sorry, this is not a health-related question, but what kind of eyeliner do u use? pencil or liquid? because your eyeliner always looks good in ur pictures lol. also do u have any tips on how to use eyeliner because im always scared im gunna poke my eye. especially with pencil eyeliner i feel like its scratchy and it pulls my eyelid....

Lol, feel free to ask me any question. Healthy-related or not! Would you like me to post a video of me doing my usual make-up? I could say what products I use, and show how I put it on. Interested?

I wasn't saying you are spoiled, sorry if it sounded like that. I was just wondering. But I'm sure you are a really good person and you deserve al those things!

Aww thank you! :) I guess I get defensive sometimes because some people called me spoiled.

I'm not talking about food, I mean like other stuff. Like a LOT of things.

I have a super good relationship with my parents. I respect them, and obey them. I don’t give them a lot of crap like most teenagers do to their parents. I also am a straight A student and committed athlete. So they’re proud of me. I have a nice car, but it’s a super early graduation present. Both my brother and sister got money from my grandmother for a car after graduation. My old car was breaking down so they decided they should just buy me the car now cause I have to drive far to school and cheer practice, but I know what you mean. I’m blessed.

Are you like, really rich or something? You seem to have everything....

What do you mean everything? Both my parents are doctors, so I live a pretty comfortable life. However, some people like clothes, I like food. I’m pretty lucky my mom supports healthy living and takes me to the grocery store one to two times a week.

how much do you weigh? if u don't mind me asking and whats your way of thinking of a good weight for people ages threw 15 to 19?

I’m 5’2” and have a petite/athletic build. I fluctuate between 114-117. I’m trying to stay consistent at 114 though. You’d have to tell me your fame, sex, age, and height for me to tell you an accurate weight.

I had a revelation,

I was in the shower last night and realized I might as well love and appreciate my body, rather than feel like it’s never good enough. If I’m not satisfied now, I may never be. I love my strong athletic body. It’s time for other girls to start loving there bodies, and stop wanting to be other people. Treat your bodies right, because you only have one. I’m sick of feeling not good enough. I am good enough, and you are too.

you should google "Gillian McKeith vs Nigella Lawson". its pretty surprising, especially for people who are like....health food and vegetarian advocates.

I’m not a vegetarian, but I try to avoid eating a lot of meat. However, I think this comparison is a pretty crappy one. Just because Nigella is prettier than Gillian doesn’t mean eating meat, butter, sugar, etc. is good for you. No offense to Gillian, but she just didn’t age as gracefully as Nigella. Nigella obviously uses some portion control when eating her food, or else she would be fat. I’m all for having cookies, brownies, cake, fro-yo, etc. but occasionally. However, I follow a lot of blogs of women who are vegan/vegetarian/health nuts and they are all beautiful women. It’s more to do with genetics. I can’t talk for other people, but I have more energy and feel better about myself when I take care of my body, so I’m going to continue to eat healthy for the rest of my life.

Why didn't you respond to my other question (about the two ladies)? I wasn't trying to be offensive, I just wanted to see what your view/opinion on that was...

I’m sorry, but I never got around to it yet. When I look it up, I’ll respond. I never got the chance. I’ve been pretty busy lately.

And I can only afford to go to places like Whole Foods, or as I like to call it, Whole Paycheck (; once or twice a year. So what are some inexpensive, but healthy and good quality foods and ingredients for people on a budget?

The main thing is to incorporate lots of produce into your diet. Protein bars and fancy drinks are a luxury. Here’s some key foods you wanna stock your house with.

  • Oats (old fashion, steel cut, scottish oats)
  • Spinach (for salads, and green monsters!)
  • Baby Carrots (amazing snack)
  • Romaine Lettuce
  • Grapefruit (amazing for your body)
  • Apples (best snack, also great in salads)
  • Bananas (can’t live without them!)
  • Strawberries + Blueberries (buy what’s in season, but I always have frozen berries in my fridge for smoothies)
  • Truvia (I get it in the biggest box at Safeway)
  • Whole Wheat Sandwich Thins (I use these more than regular bread)
  • Whole Wheat Bread (no white bread!)
  • Whole Wheat Flour (great for baked goods, and can be sub all-purpose, oat, buckwheat, and any other flour.
  • Peanut Butter (Make sure it’s natural and check the ingredients list/nutrition facts to make sure it’s a good one)
  • Greek Yogurt (try buy what’s on sale)
  • Fat-Free Cottage Cheese (try buy what’s on sale)
  • Boca Burgers, Morning Star Burgers, Salmon Burgers (always have one of these in my freezer)
  • Light Swiss Laughing Cow Cheese

Those are some main staples. Try to avoid buying junk food, and save your money for foods that will do your body good. Look out for sales, and coupons! Hope this helped! :)

Hi Amber, I love your blog. I have a question on how to fit healthy food in your budget. I noticed a lot of the recipes you post have ingredients that are pricey and I just can't afford to buy those. I've heard the argument that its better to pay for healthy expensive food now, rather than the hospital bills from obesity, diabetes, etc, but I just can't seem to fit it in my budget to pay for organic ingredients (this will be a two part question)

Well, I only occasionally shop at Whole Foods. The main things I get from there are chia seeds, nut butters, protein powders, scottish oats, microwave oatmeal packets, and tv dinners. Other than that I go shopping at Safeway and Costco. You don’t need to buy everything organic. It’s not necessary. I don’t buy organic produce, except for strawberries and blueberries. I rarely buy produce at Whole Foods. Also, instead of buying chia seeds you can buy milled golden flaxseeds by Nature Valley at Costco. It’s a huge bag and it’s way cheap than chia seeds. Or you can buy chia seeds in bulk. That’s a cheaper option too. I buy my unsweetened almond milk, quinoa, salmon burgers, whole wheat sandwich thins, clif bars, water, and lifewater at Costco. If you’re interested I could post a grocery list of everything I keep my house stocked up with and where I buy it from.

I'm only human.

I try really hard to always eat healthy and clean. I try to plan out my meals everyday, but this weekend was pretty bad. I baked for a fundraiser, and had a bunch of the cookie dough and today after the fundraiser we had leftover brownies and cookies. I had one cookie and 4-5 brownies throughout the day (not the single serving ones I just posted. I made these brownies for the bake sale). I felt pretty nasty after. Tonight though, I hit the gym and got in a quality workout. The thing is we all have our bad days. We just need to be held accountable and stay motivated. Just make sure you push yourself even harder the next day! Change is uncomfortable. I’m trying to always remember that.

So, what kind of clothes would you recommend to bring to Georgia? If possible, could you add some links (like for websites w/ clothing) or pictures of clothes you brought, and where to buy them? thanks

This is a link to all the pictures I took in Georgia. You can see what I wore, and find out that I lived in my practice clothes. The sweats that I bought were from Sports Authority and their SOFFE brand. They were black with two white stripes on the sides. I also lived in my boots. I bought them from Costco. They are gray and look exactly like UGGs. Here’s some UGGs that look exactly like them. I recommend you bring fuzzy socks and a cute warm hat if you get cold easily. One or two pairs of jeans are a good amount. Remember you don’t want to overpack! Also, if you want I can post of picture of me in an outfit I wore the most there? Just let me know!
